Ryan Reynolds’ private text messages to Wrexham players sums up co-owner

Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been praised for their dedication to the club and for sending private text messages to their Wrexham players.

Reynolds and McElhenney have taken Wrexham to new heights as they prepare to kick off next season in League One following back-to-back promotions from the National League and League Two. The co-owners have invested massively in the club both financially and emotionally as they try to climb the football pyramid.

One of their biggest coups at the club so far is attracting former Premier League winger James McClean, who has played 158 times in the top flight for Sunderland and West Brom. The 35-year-old added a wealth of experience to the Red Dragons ranks last season, registering 17 goal involvements in all competitions.

The 104-time Republic of Ireland international has been involved in plenty of dressing rooms across England during his career, but speaking as a part of RTE’s punditry team at Euro 2024, McClean lauded the owners for their hands on approach and dealings with the team and players.

“They are pretty much well involved, two brilliant lads, no airs and graces, what you see is what you get, and they are quite involved,” McClean said. “Even through text messages after games and that, they like to know what’s going on on a daily basis, and they are involved a lot.”

McClean joined Wrexham last summer after their promotion into the Football League and revealed his enjoyment in being part of the club’s journey. “It’s a hard one to explain, because you kind of have to be in the environment to kind of understand it”, McClean added.
