It’s so sadly, badly and heartbreaking to bring to you a terrifying injury that ends his career.

How Everton could line up against Man City after fresh injury setback

Rafael Benitez is expected to be without Tom Davies for the foreseeable after a training injury as he prepares to take his side to the Eithad Stadium

Everton’s early season optimism already feels a distant memory after a string of injuries to key players, and Rafael Benitez is facing a trip to Manchester City with another setback.

After last month losing Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to ankle and thigh injuries, respectively, Everton’s winless streak has stretched to five games and are now without a victory since September.

Benitez is now expected to be missing Tom Davies for a number of weeks after the midfielder reportedly picked up a knee injury during training, and may not be available again until after Christmas.

Mason Holgate’s red card against Tottenham last time out will also rule him out for the trip to the Etihad Stadium, leaving Benitez for a number of selection headaches to solve.
