Celtic Midfielder on Brink of New Longterm Deal

Celtic are on the brink of securing young talent Daniel Kelly for a longer stay. The midfielder’s contract winding down this season, the club’s thrown in an offer for an extension, hoping to keep the rising star within their ranks for the foreseeable future. [Record Sport]

At just 18, Kelly’s already made waves, sneaking into Brendan Rodgers’ lineup and even netting his first goal for the senior team during a thumping win over Dundee. His goal was the pick of the bunch as the Hoops blasted seven past the hapless SPFL strugglers.

Kelly’s no stranger to Celtic’s developmental teams, having shown his worth in both the B and Under-18 squads.

His skills haven’t gone unnoticed, attracting glances from big names like Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, not to mention some clubs from England. Yet, his heart seems set on sticking around at Parkhead.

With the club eager to avoid losing him to a mere training compensation like so many other young players that have slipped through their fingers, they’re all in on making sure Kelly’s part of their future plans.

Rodgers, seeing the potential, is gradually giving him more playtime, hinting at a possible spot in the starting XI sooner rather than later. With a match against St Johnstone coming up on Saturday, chances are we’ll see Kelly on the field again.
