Tottenham Offer 4-Year Deal To a Winger They Want To Sign

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered a four-year contract to Ajax starlet Stanis Idumbo Muzambo with the Premier League currently his most likely destination.

That is according to La Derniere Heure, Tottenham Hotspur looking to lure another highly-rated teenager to North London after Ashley Phillips, Alejo Veliz and Luka Vuskovic.

Stanis Idumbo Muzambo has just seven months left on his contract at Eredivisie giants Ajax. A departure looks likely in the New Year and, DH say, Tottenham have already come calling, offering Idumbo a four-year deal in the English capital.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are reportedly hoping to sign the France-born Belgium youth international in January. Idumbo would be handed the chance to train with Spurs’ first-team until the summer, by which time a decision will be made about whether to loan him out or to integrate him into Postecoglou’s senior set-up.

There is also interest from Monaco. A club with a proud tradition of signing talented youngsters and giving them a platform to perform.

Monaco plan to send Idumbo out on loan to sister club Cercle Brugge, however. A stance which has not gone down well with the player’s camp. Tottenham, DH claim, is currently the ‘most concrete path’, and seemingly the likeliest too.

Idumbo, a right-footed winger who loves to cut in off the left, has scored three goals in 11 games for Ajax’s reserves in the Dutch second-tier this season. He has been described as a ‘creative and spectacular’ player, via Le Vif, and would bring with him to Tottenham searing pace, good ball-carrying and ball-striking, and intricate, clever footwork in tight spaces.

“(Idumbo) has excellent acceleration and likes to seek out the opponent (and beat him),” writes Voetbal Nieuws. “He likes to pop up in the opponent’s penalty area and likes to run long distances with the ball.”

Tottenham signed Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers over the summer, fellow youngster Veliz arriving from Velez Sarsfield in Argentina. Croatian centre-half Vuskovic, meanwhile, will join when he turns 18.
