Tottenham star James Maddison has delivered an update on the ankle injury he picked up in November against Chelsea. Moments after Micky van de Ven hobbled off with a hamstring injury, Maddison joined him in being withdrawn with Ange Postecoglou later confirming the duo would be out for the remainder of the year.
Spurs have significantly missed both with three consecutive defeats following the 4-1 loss to London rivals Chelsea. As a result, the Lilywhites have significantly slipped down the table before they picked up a surprise point against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium this past weekend.
A late equaliser from Dejan Kulusevski ended the losing streak with the display against the reigning champions put in by Postecoglou’s side a valiant one given their issues. Giovani Lo Celso has been entrusted with the Maddison role in the latter’s absence and he has certainly paid back the faith shown by scoring back-to-back Premier League goals.
However, having Maddison available again will be a huge boost for Postecoglou with the man himself now offering the latest update on his recovery. “It’s healing well, it’s a bit of a slow burner which is obviously frustrating because like you said, I started the season so well. But it’s healing, slowly but surely.”
