Injury update on Tottenham defender & his first-team return

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven may be closing in on his first-team return from injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Paul O’Keefe, an agent close to Spurs, reported on 14 December that the Dutchman has stepped up his efforts in training and is doing individual work on the grass.

The injury expert believes that this is likely a positive sign and his hamstring injury is more of a moderate grade rather than a complete rupture as that would have ruled him out for three months.

Discussing the state of play with van de Ven exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “His routine will be methodically progressing his strength and mobility while getting back to more sport-specific actions.

In terms of timeline, don’t believe Tottenham gave anything specific originally but there were reports of late January or early February so his return so quickly is likely a positive sign and he could be back sooner.

His setback is sounding more like a moderate grade injury rather than a complete rupture which would be over three months out.”
