Brennan Johnson hasn’t got off to the strongest of starts since joining Tottenham.
The £50m man was Spurs’ biggest signing of the summer, but he’s arguably been the least impactful signing at Tottenham this season.
However, while Johnson isn’t making that much of an impact at the moment, those at Spurs believe that he could be a superstar in years to come.
Indeed, according to Alasdair Gold, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, staff at Tottenham genuinely believe that Johnson could be a devastating player when everything clicks.
Johnson can be fantastic
Gold shared what he knows about the attacker.
“From what I understand, Postecoglou is a massive fan of his, he thinks he’s going to be a terrific young player. Yes, the pricetag was big to get him out of Forest, but there was a feeling that they were buying a player whose best years are ahead of him. With Brennan Johnson it’s deciding his best position, improving elements within his game, but there’s a feeling within the club that he could be absolutely devastating when it all clicks,” Gold said.
Has what it takes
Staff at Spurs are backing Johnson to be a star, and it has to be said that it does seem as though he has what it takes to make it to the top at this level.
Yes, he’s stuttered at Spurs, but he has so many fantastic raw attributes such as his electric pace.
Let’s not forget, he hit double figures in terms of goals for Nottingham Forest last season, and, in theory, once he rediscovers his confidence, he should score buckets in a Spurs side that creates more chances than Forest, with all due respect, could ever dream of creating.
Johnson could well be a fantastic player for Spurs for years to come.
