Wrexham will sign former Man City starlet after trial

‘He has got real talent’ – Wrexham AFC issue transfer update on signing former Man City starlet after trial

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson hasn’t ruled out the possibility of signing former Man City hopeful Josh Adam as a free agent.

The 20-year-old has been on trial with the League One leaders for a number of weeks as he looks for a new club following his release by Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer transfer window.

Adam began his career at Celtic before he made the switch to Man City, where he played a key role in consecutive Premier League 2 title wins. He scored 18 goals and 12 assists in 99 appearances across the various youth levels for the Blues, before his spell came to an end during the summer.

A year ago, Lille and Club Brugge were two of the sides to express an interest in the attacking midfielder, but now it could be a move to North Wales that represents the next step in his career.

“At the moment we will roll with what we have got,” Parkinson said after the weekend win over Shrewsbury. “We have got some good players who haven’t figured much yet so we don’t want to bring someone in for the sake of it.

“We have had young Josh Adam in from Manchester City on trial. He is a player we would like to keep because he has got real talent but in terms of a senior player coming in at the moment, we have got enough of those fighting for places.”
