Why Tottenham ‘give up hope of signing Gallagher this month’

The 23-year-old has been a regular part of Mauricio Pochettino‘s side this term, featuring in 20 Premier League matches, starting all of those and providing four assists.

Since returning from a loan spell at fellow top-flight outfit Crystal Palace in the summer of 2022, Gallagher has played in 71 games for the West London club, finding the net on three occasions.

the report claims that talks between Spurs and the Blues have now collapsed, meaning a potential deal in the next fortnight is off the cards.

It is understood that Pochettino wants to retain the services of Gallagher until the summer at least, with the former West Bromwich Albion loanee missing just one of his side’s Premier League matches this season.

Although a transfer has failed to materialise this month, Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou remains a huge admirer of the player and would like to recruit him during the summer window.

It is believed that the Lilywhites will now focus on alternative options before trading slams shut at the end of the month, with Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips interesting the North Londoners.

The ex-Leeds United man is looking for a switch away from Pep Guardiola‘s side in the second half of the term as the midfielder aims to book his spot in Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s European Championships in Germany.
