Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers react to Cameron Brink’s big announcement
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has joined fellow WNBA players in celebrating the engagement of Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink. Brink shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a series of photos of the proposal, including one of her now-fiance, Ben Felter, down on one knee, and other snapshots capturing the newly engaged couple’s joy.
Reese was among several notable women’s basketball figures who congratulated Brink on the engagement, sending a message of support along with Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull, Sabrina Ionescu, Lexie Brown, and Dearica Hamby. The show of love from across the WNBA underscores the close-knit nature of the league.
Brink’s rookie season with the Sparks had a promising start before being cut short by an ACL injury that required surgery. Standing at 6-foot-4, she made an immediate impact, playing and starting in 15 games before her injury.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft from Stanford averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in her first professional season.
“You never think it will happen to you,” Brink said at the time. “And despite all the hard work sometimes it does. This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger.
I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work everyday to get back to it. It’s not goodbye basketball it’s just a see you later. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers. #delayednotdenied.”
Angel Reese, on the other hand, had a historic debut year with the Chicago Sky. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged an impressive 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds over 34 games before her season was also interrupted by a wrist injury that required surgery. Despite the setback, Reese left a strong mark on the Sky’s performance.
