The Bruins have placed Marc McLaughlin on waivers, likely with the intent of sending him to the AHL.
The forward from North Billerica, who played at Boston College, has spent most of his professional career in Providence, but has four goals in 14 NHL games under his belt for the Bruins. If he clears waivers, he’ll likely return to Rhode Island for his fourth season there.
After practice on Sunday morning, Jim Montgomery said the team hadn’t made final decisions on roster cuts. McLaughlin is likely the first of several to be made over the next week.
McLaughlin hasn’t been much of an offensive weapon in either the NHL or AHL, but has been a solid bottom-six grinder with good defensive instincts, but the Bruins have several players ahead of him on the depth chart to play on the third or fourth lines.
