West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old highly-rated Derby County defender Eiran Cashin.
The Irish defender could prove to be a quality acquisition for West Ham United, and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers can secure an agreement with Derby County. The 22-year-old has been a key player for the League One side.
But his contract is coming to an end in the summer. Derby must look to cash in on him during the January transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer. West Ham could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive department, and the 22-year-old would be a long-term investment for them.
The opportunity to play for West Ham will be an attractive option for Cashin as well. He will want to prove himself at the highest level, and a move to the Premier League would be a major step up in his career. But West Ham will face stiff competition from other clubs for his signature.
The highly-rated defender appears to be a man in demand, and Burnley and Middlesbrough are showing interest in the player as well. The 22-year-old central defender certainly has the quality to do well in the top flight of English football, and he could develop into an important player for West Ham with coaching and guidance.
Given his contract situation, he is likely to be available for a knockdown price as well, and the transfer could prove to be a major bargain in the long run. West Ham will be able to offer him European football during the second half of the season, which could be an added incentive for the player.
The Hammers managed to win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, and they will be hoping to go all the way in the UEFA Europa League this season. There is no doubt that they need to add more quality and depth to their squad in January, and signing the right players will help them finish the season on a high. Others, like Oscar Mingueza, are also on their radar.
