West Ham last-min hunt to sign 13-goal Englishman

Norwich City are expecting eleventh-hour bids for Jonathan Rowe amid interest from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Sunday People.

The newspaper reported in its print edition (28 January, page 63) that Aston Villa are the newest Premier League side to register an interest in the 20-year-old alongside the Hammers, Spurs, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.

Rowe is one of many players who are expected to be the subject of deadline-busting bids in the final days and hours of the transfer window but Norwich remain determined to keep him at Carrow Road until the end of the season at least.

However, contract talks have been parked with the forward, with his current deal with David Wagners’ side set to expire in the summer of 2025.

West Ham need another forward option this month and while it appears as though a number of potential targets are on the agenda, Rowe represents a very exciting option who could well be the next Jarrod Bowen if he hits the ground running.

The Englishman has been in fine goalscoring form in the Championship this season, popping up with an excellent 13 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions. His form in front of goal has almost single-handedly kept the Canaries in the race for the playoffs.

However, his importance to Norwich has likely only driven his price further and further up and it will require an incredibly large transfer fee to get him out of Carrow Road this month. It remains to be seen whether the Irons would foot that bill.

If a late flurry of bids do arrive for the 20-year-old in the closing stages of the window however, David Moyes’ side should throw their hat in the ring as Rowe has the potential to be a real difference-maker at the London Stadium.
