Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi is repeatedly linked with a return to Serie A, or even to Real Madrid, but reveals he is ‘speaking’ to Brighton and Hove Albion about a new contract.
“I usually work to be happy and to enjoy, and I feel very good at Brighton. At the end, we have to analyse the targets. If the targets are the same with the club, it’s an honour for me to work at Brighton.
“I don’t try to reach the higher level. Most important for me is working seriously, working with a good team, good players, but it’s important for me to fix an important target.”
The former Benevento and Sassuolo boss first left Italy in the summer of 2021 for a new experience at Shakhtar Donetsk, but it lasted only a few months before Ukraine was invaded by Russia.
He then joined Brighton in the Premier League in September 2022, taking over after Graham Potter had been poached by Chelsea.
After taking the Seagulls to qualification for Europe with beautiful football, it saw De Zerbi linked with jobs at Juventus, Milan, Roma, Napoli and even Real Madrid.
