Veteran DB Nafees Lyon has rejoined the Montreal Alouettes.

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive back Nafees Lyon to a one-year contract extension.

The five-foot-ten, 184-pound cover man played only one game this past season before suffering a season-ending knee injury, recording three defensive tackles.

“We’re excited to have Nafees back with us for another year,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “Coming out of training camp last year, he was one of our starters on defence. He has worked incredibly hard on his road to recovery, and we’re confident that he can be a valuable contributor for us in 2024.”

The 27-year-old native of Charlotte, N.C. started his CFL career as a member of the Edmonton Elks in 2021 and was traded to Montreal the following year. He has made 82 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, four interceptions, one sack, and one forced fumble over 20 career CFL regular season games.

The Alouettes will open the 2024 season on June 6 when they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Princess Auto Stadium for a Grey Cup rematch.
