Derby County predicted XI, team and injury news for Shrewsbury Town friendly

Paul Warne is preparing his Derby County side for the 2024/25 Championship season, which begins for the Rams on August 9th.

Derby have been using their 2024 pre-season so far to embed several new players into the first-team squad.

The Derbyshire outfit began their proper pre-season schedule by beating local side Matlock Town 3-0.

Sonny Bradley then scored the only goal of the game in Derby’s second fixture as they saw off Stockport County.

Things did not go as well in midweek, though, as Warne saw his side smashed 4-0 by Chesterfield.

Derby will be eager to return to winning ways when they take on Shrewsbury Town at New Meadow at 3pm BST on July 27th.

Warne had to deal with a plethora of injury issues at Pride Park in the previous campaign and is once again having to navigate around this problem in pre-season.

It was confirmed on Thursday that defender Jake Rooney has suffered another knee injury and will be out for four months.

Tyrese Fornah is a doubt for Saturday’s game after he tweaked his knee. The midfielder is back on the grass but his involvement versus Shrewsbury remains up in the air.

On a more positive note, Conor Washington, Joel Ward, Dajaune Brown, and Ben Osborn should all be available for selection as they work their way back from minor injury problems.
