Wrexham Defender Snapped Up By National League Side
Wrexham defender Jordan Tunnicliffe has been snapped up by National League side Solihull Moors on a permanent contract, becoming their latest summer acquisition.
Andy Whing’s side narrowly missed out on promotion to the EFL last season but have wasted no time in preparing their squad ahead of the upcoming National League campaign.
There was a brief issue with the defenders contract at Wrexham, with the club confirming his release but realising he actually had a longer contract than they realised.
Upon signing for the football club, Tunnicliffe told the club’s website…
“It’s a local club to me, I’ve lived in the area the last few years and it’s a club that have got aspirations to get into the football league and I want to be a part of that.
“I’ve got promoted from this league before and I want to try and do it again.
“It’s a really tough league to get out of, I know what it takes now and what the changing room has to do and we’ve got to drive those high standards.”

How did he fare last season?
The 30-year-old played a role in helping Wrexham achieve back-to-back promotions into League One as well as becoming a fan favourite with Crawley Town and making the 2020/21 League Two Team of the Season.
However, he made just ten appearances in all competitions last season for Wrexham, scoring once during an EFL Trophy match against Crewe Alexandra in October.
Despite his lack of first-team action last season, the defender has signed a one-year contract with Solihull Moors, after ending his spell in Wales with 39 appearances and three goals to his name.
What will he bring to the National League side?
During his time at Wrexham, Tunnicliffe played a crucial role in their initial National League title triumph and has spent almost his entire career in the English fourth and fifth tiers.
His experience will be a vital asset to Solihull Moors, partnering Alex Whitmore at centre-back next season, whilst James Clarke is likely to refer back to his natural full-back position with Joe Newton on the other side.
Similarly, he knows what’s needed to get clubs out of the National League and alongside both Whitmore and Jamey Osborne, that could be enough to make sure Solihull go one better this season.
