Sunderland AFC’s search for a new head coach was finally brought to a conclusion as former Lorient manager Régis Le Bris’ arrival was announced on Saturday evening.

The time the Black Cats hierarchy have taken over this deal means that they are somewhat behind in preparations for the new season and can only now begin to utilise the transfer window.

Outgoings will be prominent in Le Bris’ mind, with two key figures, Jack Clarke and Trai Hume, subject to interest from some of England’s top clubs.

The head coach will have to balance the outgoings with incomings and an area that needs to be targeted is the centre-forward position.

Since Ross Stewart departed the club last summer, they have lacked goals from their strikers, with new additions Luis Semedo and Nazariy Rusyn both struggling to find the target.

If Le Bris is to succeed, he needs more goals from his players up top and a new striker must be prominent on his transfer shortlist.
