July 1 should be a busy day for the Boston Bruins, not only because free agency begins at noon but Bruins Development Camp will also commence at Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, Massachusetts. In total, 35 players will participate in the camp which will run through July 4.

One big name on the list of invitees is 2022 second-round draft pick Matt Poitras, who is the only player attending camp with NHL experience. Poitras played 33 games in his rookie season with Boston and scored 5 goals with 10 assists before a lingering shoulder injury finally ended his season. The talented 20-year-old is seeking to make the NHL roster again but this time, could spend some time in Providence with the AHL club.

Another notable camper is 2021 third-round pick Brett Harrison. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound center has fallen down the prospect charts some after a subpar season in Providence, where the 21-year-old scored five goals with nine assists in 47 games. Injuries and inconsistent play have hampered Harrison’s development, which will make him someone to keep an eye on this week.

The entire 2024 NHL Draft class for Boston will be in attendance this week. Fans will have the opportunity to see 6-foot-7 center Dean Letourneau up close. The 18-year-old first-round pick will attend nearby Boston College in the fall as well. Fourth-rounder Elliott Groenewold will get some action as well. The 6-foot-2 defenseman was selected 110th overall after the Bruins traded Jakub Lauko and their original pick at 122 to get the future Quinnipiac blue liner. Jonathan Morello and Loke Johansson will also attend camp this week. Morello is a 6-foot-3 center with good speed and skill, and Johansson is a physical Swede who has the size and demeanor to surprise after being chosen in the sixth round.

Other Bruins draftees on the list include Boston University defenseman Ty Gallagher, UMass-Amherst center Dans Locmelis, Providence College forward Riley Duran and goaltender Philip Svedeback, Boston College teammates Oskar Jellvik and Andre Gasseau, and promising defensemen Frederic Brunet and Jackson Edward. The full 2023 draft class will also be in attendance, headlined by 92nd overall pick Chris Pelosi.
