Should Miami Heat entertain a DeMar DeRozan trade?

Miami Heat and New York Knicks are on a list of preferred destinations for DeMar DeRozan.

The Miami Heat are understandably almost always the preferred destination for stars on the trade market because of location.

Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan is the newest star that has the Heat on his preferred trade destinations list along with the New York Knicks according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

“When it comes to possible destinations, the Heat and Knicks are known to be preferable to DeRozan if he winds up getting moved,” Amick said.

Whether the Bulls are ready to break up an expensive payroll still remains to be seen.

DeRozan is in the last year of his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. So, he is possibly attainable without giving up tangible assets, but does it make sense for the Heat?

Stars who can create their own shots in the playoffs are needed, which DeRozan has done for years.

The problem is DeRozan’s game is far too similar to Jimmy Butler because both excel in the midrange and paint area.

That’s not including Bam Adebayo, who also operates in the same area along with standout rookie Jaime Jaquez. The court spacing wouldn’t make sense even with Duncan Robinson’s reemergence.

It would be best to never turn your nose up at a player of DeRozan’s caliber. He is on pace to once again average at least 20 points. However, in this particular case, the roster fit doesn’t look right on paper.
