Schedule for Round 1 of the Bruins-Leafs Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs’ Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series schedule has been finalized.

The 2023–24 NHL regular season came to an end with the Los Angeles Kings defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 5–4 in overtime early on Friday morning in the Eastern Time Zone.

The NHL then made available the official schedule for the opening round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Boston Bruins and their supporters were unaware of the dates of Games 2–7, but they now know as the Eastern Conference Game 1 schedule was announced this past Wednesday.

The best-of-seven series between the Bruins and Leafs will begin on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET at TD Garden. Here is the schedule for the opening round of play:

This season, the Bruins dominated their bitter rivals in the Original Six, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0-0. The Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 4-1 on March 4 in Toronto and March 7 in Boston after winning 3-2 in a shootout at TD Garden on November 2 and 4-3 in overtime at Toronto on December 2. During the previous regular season, the Bruins did not trail the Maple Leafs in any of those four games.

Although the two clubs have split their 16 Stanley Cup postseason series matches, the Bruins have won the last six meetings between the two bitter rivals going into this most recent postseason matchup versus Toronto. The Bruins have won the last three series (2013, 2018, 2019) in seven games.

They also swept the Maple Leafs in the 1969 quarterfinals, the 1972 quarterfinals in five games, and the 1974 quarterfinals.

The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs’ last three series were thrilling contests that reignited their rivalry.

With just over ten minutes remaining in regulation in Game 7, the Bruins in 2013 lost a 3-1 series lead and trailed 4-1 before mounting an incredible comeback.

Patrice Bergeron’s game-tying goal with 51 seconds remaining in regulation was one of the three third-period goals the Bruins scored. Bergeron’s historic overtime winner came 6:05 into the extra frame.

The Bruins were driven to the 2013 Stanley Cup by their opening-round series loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, who they fell to in six games.

After defeating the Maple Leafs in 2018, the Boston Bruins lost a second-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, in 2019, the team once again made it to the Stanley Cup Final, where they were defeated in seven games by the St. Louis Blues.
