It’s easy to forget how big the achievement of Leigh Leopards over the past two seasons has been and presenter Brian Carney ensured to underline just what progress the club have made under Adrian Lam in the past two seasons.
The former Irish international explained: “Now Adrian Lam and the club owner Derek Beaumont will of course plan and prepare and spend and look to improve and to progress this club but we should make note of what they have done in the last two and a half years.

Key to that success was the fact that signings made in the Championship landed and developed into Super League-quality players, something that Jon Wilkin pointed to before suggesting they need a similar recruitment cycle if they’re to remain successful/.
“The vision was to sign John Asiata and Edwin Ipape when they were in the Championship, but they weren’t Super League signings. They were bought under the premise of getting into Super League and the long-term vision and long-term recruitment strategy have been great, but this next cycle of recruitment really important.
“They brought Matt Moylan in, that’s not worked out really. He’s on big money, so the next bits of recruitment that they do over the next coming years are really important, but it’s an incredible body of work that they’ve put in over the last three years.”
Signings were what Sam Tomkins focused on as he hailed the progress but noted that recruitment is necessary for Leigh Leopards to ‘bridge the gap’.
