SAD NEWS: Murdered Leeds United fans mocked by vile football hooligans

A pair of Stoke City fans have been banned from all football grounds in England and Wales after chanting about a pair of murdered Leeds United fans at Elland Road.

The vile abuse happened during Leeds’ home clash against Stoke City on Tuesday, March 5, when the two visiting fans were spotted tragedy chanting about the Whites fans who died in Istanbul in 2000. They were in the West Stand Upper away supporters’ section of the stadium, which is immediately above the home fans.

Kevin Speight and Chris Loftus were tragically stabbed to death prior to a Championship clash against Galatasaray. Mark Turner, 44, of Longport Road, Stoke-on-Trent, and Callum Lawton, 28, of Johnson Place, Fegg Hayes, Stoke-on-Trent, were both charged with a Section 5 public order offence in relation to the chanting incident.

Appearing before magistrates in Leeds last Wednesday (March 20), the pair, who both pleaded guilty, were each issued with three-year Football Banning Orders. Turner was also ordered to pay a £859 fine, while Lawton was ordered to pay a £253 fine.
