Players from either team rarely turn traitorous against one another in the Pittsburgh Steelers vs.
Baltimore Ravens rivalry. Though there have been instances, which stars have demonstrated that behavior? There aren’t many of them, so many people were taken aback when the team signed Patrick Queen in free agency.
During his press conference last month, Queen stated that he wanted to be remembered as the antagonist of that rivalry rather than as a former Raven.
“I want to be that villain, even if it will be strange. I aspire to be that man. “I want to do some things to them,” declared Queen.
Queen received some slights in return from Baltimore after signing with the Steelers, and jokes from his old teammates were directed at him. Still, it was all in good humor. They realize that it’s a commercial endeavor.
It’s not strange at all. Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith said of Queen on Wednesday, “Life happens, and he’s somewhere else right now.”
But Smith was sure to make a lighthearted dig at Queen.
“In the LB room, I got to tear down his picture. We have linebackers all over the place, as you are aware. I need to record myself punching it or doing anything similar on camera. Alternatively, I can ask [special teams coach Chris Horton] if I can make a punt play while on special teams and he stays to cover him.
However, I’m glad for him. It will be nice to see him twice a year, and I’m wishing him the best. Although I still love him, war is war when it comes to battle.
The man projected to take Queen’s place beside Smith at inside linebacker is Trenton Simpson.
“Simp is putting in a lot of effort to be the best. I’m excited because I understand his perspective. He is a man with boundless potential. All that will need to be done is trust his abilities and put that on the field every week. Smith stated, “I believe he will be the league’s best second-year linebacker if he achieves that.
