Richard and Gray react to Leeds United win vs Ipswich

Richard Keys and Andy Gray praised Leeds United for the way in which they eased to victory over Ipswich Town at Elland Road.

Leeds ran out emphatic 4-0 winners in Saturday’s (23 December) Championship contest to close the gap on the side in second to seven points.

A Pascal Struijk tap-in, a Leif Davis own goal and Crysencio Summerville’s penalty had the Whites three goals up at half-time.

No matter what way Farke wanted to spin it, this match was must win as far as Leeds were concerned – not even must-not-lose.

Leeds could have ended the day 13 points behind Ipswich with defeat, 10 with a draw or indeed seven with a victory.

It means that, with the Tractor Boys up against leaders Leicester City up next, Leeds could be within four points within the next few days.

After a recent blip in which five points were dropped across two matches, this was much more like it from the Whites’ perspective.

All Farke’s charges can do at this point is put together a winning run and hope Ipswich drop enough points.

The four-goal margin of victory was hugely surprising, but it did not exactly flatter Leeds – they were truly excellent, especially in the first half.

As far as Christmas presents go, they do not come much better than this.
