The rumor mill involving the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine has been churning non-stop for a while now. And with the NBA trade deadline fast approaching, it won’t be long before rumors turn into reality.
The Los Angeles Lakers is one team many insiders speculate is in the mix to snag the two-time All-Star guard, including Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, who believes a deal will get done between these two franchises.
Do the Lakers have enough?
The Lakers may not have enough assets to bring the Bulls’ front office to the negotiating table. Their most appealing asset is Austin Reaves, who the Lakers’ front office has hesitated to part ways with. However, Bailey believes the Bulls and Lakers may become desperate enough to make a move happen.
“Let me start by saying the Lakers simply may not have the goods to get LaVine,” Bailey wrote.
“But both of these teams could be pretty desperate ahead of the trade deadline. LeBron James is already taking his passive-aggressive swipes at the roster that has him under .500 on the season, and the Bulls have to know they’ve gone as far as they possibly can with the LaVine-DeMar DeRozan-NikolaVucevic core.”
Bulls getting back draft picks and young talent
If the Bulls can’t pry Reaves away from the Lakers, perhaps a package consisting of talented wingman Max Christie and several draft picks would be enough to entice Chicago to let LaVine go to the City of Angels.
While it’s not the package that the Bulls were seemingly hoping for, Christie has the potential to develop into a solid player, and the draft picks could help them rebuild quickly.
