Reasons to Have Faith in the 49ers for the 2024 Season

Losing in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs is by far the most heartbreaking one the San Francisco 49ers have suffered in a long time.

A loss like that can make the future of the 49ers look dark and bleak. However, they are still a very good team that should be expected to make the playoffs again in 2024. There are reasons to feel confident about the 49ers going into next season. First and foremost, it is quarterback Brock Purdy.

For the first time in the Kyle Shanahan era, there will not be question marks revolving around the quarterback position for the 49ers. It is such a sigh of relief after having year after year of nonstop discourse about the position. Thanks to Purdy, there will be none of that this offseason. The only real question now is how much will he improve?

The Exit Interview of 49ers QB Brock Purdy (9:44)

This offseason will be the first one for Purdy where he gets to actually work on himself as a quarterback. Last offseason he spent the entire time resting and rehabbing. He was working his way back into being a football player again. Now, he gets to work on areas that he is weak in to make himself more well rounded.

Purdy alone is reason enough to feel confident about the 49ers going into next season. He was an MVP finalist, a Pro Bowler, and close to being an All-Pro player. Imagine what he looks like if he successfully finds ways to improve. Quarterback is the driving force of a team, and because of that, Purdy is enough to feel confident about the 49ers.

Of course, the main core of the 49ers is still intact, so there is always that standard. But that has been the reason to feel confident in them in the last four years. Purdy was never that reason until now, and now he has a chance to be better. What I am excited and most curious for is how Shanahan improves with Purdy?

Now that he knows what Purdy can do, I want to know if Shanahan utilizes his athleticism more with getting him on the move with rollouts and maybe relying on his arm more. Aside from Purdy, the 49ers will finally have a first-round draft pick and are overall stacked with draft picks. This is a great year to find a couple of impactful players to give them some nice retooling.

Everything surely still feels skittish with the 49ers right now. It has barely been over a week since the Super Bowl loss, but there is still great cause to feel confident in them as they flip the page to 2024.
