What a heavy touch and ill-advised decision it was to shoot from there on your weaker foot, but that’s Hollywood baby!
72′ Real Madrid 2-3 Manchester City
Another fantastic strike from the visitors, and from their most unlikely source!
More patient play and Grealish played a key role yet again. He attacked down the left wing and rolled the back for Gvardiol whose first touch was really poor, but opened up the shooting chance.
Without needing a second invitation, he arrowed an effort — with his weaker right foot — right into the corner.
71′ Real Madrid 2-3 Manchester City
Once again, the game is turned completely on its head!
69′ Real Madrid 2-2 Manchester City
Foden has had a couple of sighters in the opening hour of the game, but couldn’t quite connect properly.
68′ Real Madrid 2-2 Manchester City
The same thing is true now City have scored, but it was also true before: City have been much better this half, much more imposing, but the threat of the counter-attack, including from City giving the ball away cheaply at times, is there.
67′ Real Madrid 2-2 Manchester City
Just had City had been quietly growing back into the game, they are back on level terms.
Foden was not dissuaded from taking on the long shot after his earlier effort went straight at Lunin.
This time, the Real Madrid goalkeeper was left with no chance as the left-footed strike from just outside the penalty area flew right into the top corner.
It doesn’t get any better than that from the 23-year-old!
62′ Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester City
Super intensity and aggression from Madrid when City are moving ball around, Kroos and Camavinga have both been biting into tackles, forcing City back.
Ref has also been good, for both teams, allowing battles for the ball without whistling all the time.
60′ Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester City
This second half is starting to adopt the end-to-end nature of the first half.
First, Foden shoots straight into the arms of Lunin from outside the box before Bernardo Silva does the same moments later. The Ukrainian makes a bit of a mess of the second one but gathers the ball at the second attempt.
Now Vinicius Jr fires big chance over the bar
56′ Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester City
Another massive chance for Real Madrid.
Valverde plays a sublime cross-field ball into Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr is immediately on his way in behind the City defence.
He is picked out by his compatriot but his left-footed effort is really poor and flies harmlessly over the crossbar.
One wonders if Ancelotti’s side will come to rue all of these missed chances, either tonight or in next week’s second leg.
54′ Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester City
He eventually creates a yard of space but the angle is against him and his left-footed effort is always going wide of the far post, despite Ortega’s dive.
