Portsmouth Boss want another loan deal for Chelsea midfielder

‘We’re first’: Championship side confirm interest in Chelsea star who made his debut under Frank Lampard

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho is keen to see another loan deal for Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin, after his season-long stay at Fratton Park last term.

Chelsea have Anjorin under contract until 2025 and will reassess his future this summer, either opting to sell him or offering him a new contract. A strong, powerful, attacking box-to-box midfielder who loves to shoot and score goals, Anjorin made his senior debut for Chelsea as a substitute in a 2019 League Cup tie at age 17 under Frank Lampard.

However, a promising career has been hit with injuries. He fractured his metatarsal while playing in Russia and then suffered an ankle injury last season in the Championship. While on loan at Pompey last season, he suffered another knee injury, limiting him to 14 games as one of England’s traditional teams returned to the Championship for the first time in 12 years.

“Tino has been a part of that in the past, now he’s back and fully fit so I don’t think it’s anything Chelsea want to rush. It’s something we’re monitoring though, and hopefully, we’re first in line if anything becomes available. There’s hopefully scope because we know the player and we know what’s coming in. It’s one we’re open to if he gets the opportunity to come back to the football club.”

Chelsea finished sixth in the league last season and are also looking to strengthen as they aim to at least bring Champions League football back to Stamford Bridge next season.
