When West Ham played Crystal Palace on Sunday we billed it an audition of sorts for striker Odsonne Edouard.
That was after the Frenchman was suddenly linked with a Hammers move in a report from Football Transfers.
David Moyes did not sign a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca in the summer. And West Ham fans are urging the club to do so in the winter window.
Michail Antonio has struggled this season and turns 34 in March. And there are serious doubts over whether Jarrod Bowen is the answer up front for West Ham.
Now the striker with seven goals this season has spoken out on his future after the West Ham move links as Edouard makes a big admission.
In a rare interview, Edouard has spoken to Foot Mercato. And while he says he wants to continue in the Premier League, he also wants to play for a club competing in Europe too.
“Personally, I’m happy where I am today because I’m still in the Premier League,” Edouard said.
“Afterwards it is clear that as a player, our objective is to always aspire to better and to play in the best European clubs. I’m not worried about that, it’s something that will come with time, with the work and the performances that I will provide…
“At the moment, I’m in the Premier League, I like life in England, I like the championship. The ideal goal is to stay in the Premier League. But I am an open person. I’ve already moved around quite a bit since the start of my career.”
