Baltimore Ravens: Quarterback Lamar Jackson Receives Surprising Ranking On NFL Top 100

Last year, quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens captured the NFL MVP Award for the second time in his NFL career. The 2019 season was the only other time in his career that he took home the MVP award. In both seasons, Jackson guided the Ravens to the top spot in the AFC.

Some believe that head coach John Harbaugh’s window of opportunity to win a title with the Ravens may be closing soon. This offseason, Baltimore lost a number of important players on both sides of the ball. It’s uncertain whether they will emerge victorious in the AFC North Division this year. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals all improved this summer, making it the hardest division in all of football.

There are those who think that head coach John Harbaugh’s chances of winning a championship with the Ravens may soon be fading. Baltimore lost several key players this offseason on both sides of the ball. It remains to be seen if they will win the AFC North Division this season. It’s the toughest division in sports because the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals all got better this summer.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens is ranked #2 in the NFL Top 100.

In the NFL Top 100 for the 2023 season, Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens, was rated as the second-best player. Tyreek Hill, a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, was the only other player in the Top 100 rankings to rank higher than him. Jackson was ranked higher than quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Regarding Lamar Jackson’s ranking as the second-best player in the Top 100, NFL.com’s Michael Baca stated:

“In 2023, Jackson’s arm was used more than ever as he recorded career highs in completions (307), pass attempts (457), completion percentage (67.2), and passing yards (3,678) while delivering an effective touchdown-to-interception ratio (24–7). Jackson is one of the most exciting dual-threat quarterbacks the game has ever seen. However, Baltimore’s great player kept being a wonder with his rash play, leading all quarterbacks with 821 running yards (5.5 yd/carry; five touchdowns) as he led the Ravens to an NFL-high 13 victories. Jackson, 27, became the second-youngest player to win the title after collecting his second Most Valuable Player trophy. The largest increase in the 2023 edition is Jackson’s 70-spot climb from the previous year’s Top 100 ranking, and his talent ceiling.

Last season, Jackson passed for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions on 67.2% of his passes. Along with averaging 5.5 yards per rush, he also scored five touchdowns and gained 821 yards via rushing on 148 carries. His stats from the previous season are intriguing because he was tied for 11th place in passing touchdowns but ranked 15th in passing yards in the NFL.
