Notts County and Barrow race to sign George Wind

Stockport County, Notts County and Barrow are tracking non-league sensation George Wind, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old right-back has been earning rave reviews for Billericay in the Isthmian Premier Division this season and scouts from EFL clubs have been making regular checks on him.

The likes of Stockport, Notts County and Barrow are keeping tabs on the full-back, who is equally adept as an attacking right-back as well as defending one v one.

Wind has been integral to Billericay’s push for promotion this season and he was rewarded for his fine displays with a new deal in February.

Stockport among League Two trio keeping tabs on 21-year-old sensation
Wind has been garnering plenty of attention from the English Football League for his displays for Billericay in the Isthmian Premier Division. And there is now a three-horse race underway for his signature, with League Two trio Stockport, Notts County and Barrow all showing an interest.

The defender has been key at both ends of the pitch for his current club, who occupy seventh place in the Isthmian Premier Division at this moment in time.

They will be relying on his performances as they continue their promotion push, but Billericay could lose their young star in the summer transfer window.

Among the player’s suitors, it is Stockport who are having the strongest season, with the club sitting in top spot in League Two. Barrow are currently 10 points behind the league leaders in fifth place, with Notts County in 15th with 52 points.

Eyeing a place further up the football pyramid, Billericay are running out of time to climb their league table, with just four matches remaining.

Wind tied down his future in Essex until the end of the 2024/25 season with his recent deal, having started his career at Colchester United.

The defender, who penned the deal after making his 40th appearance of the campaign in all competitions, has also spent time on loan at Bowers & Pitsea in his brief career so far, with a move to League Two now on the cards.

For now his focus remains on helping Billericay end the current Isthmian Premier Division campaign strongly under manager Gary McCann.

In other news, Bradford City set to appoint former Wigan Athletic chief.
