Nottingham Forest ‘strongly pushing’ to sign 25-year-old

Saved from the Championship by Marseille, Ismaïla Sarr got the move away from Watford he had been seeking last summer, but the first half of the campaign hasn’t been the one he will have wanted.

That’s why there has been talk that he could be on the move again in January, with Nottingham Forest the latest club to take an interest in his services.

This is according to Foot Mercato, who reveal that Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have joined Villarreal in the battle to sign the winger.

Free to leave if the right offer comes along, Sarr could end up having to choose between discovering Spain for the first time as a player or returning to England, as Nottingham Forest as ‘strongly pushing’ to get him to City Ground.

It’s explained a sale of the 25-year-old would be preferable for Marseille, who spent €13m on him, and the Tricky Trees are trying their best to create a late move for the Senegal international in the coming days, even if ‘no contact’ has taken place between the two sides.

A post from journalist Santi Aouna on X, formerly Twitter, also adds that the Premier League side have ‘contacted’ the player ‘multiple times over the past few days’.

For now, Sarr is more focused on helping his country in the Africa Cup of Nations, as they prepare to face Ivory Coast on Monday evening, but his attention could quickly change, all depending on the outcome of that game.

Marseille will likely want their money back for the forward, knowing that Nottingham Forest likely have the funds, for a player who has four goals and two assists in 21 appearances this season.
