NHL betting: Who will score the GWG in Game 5 between the Panthers and Rangers?
To say that Game 5 between the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers is a big deal is a major understatement. And after the last three games in the now-tied Eastern Conference Final went to overtime, you can imagine how insane the goal-scoring prop bets are for Thursday’s tilt.
Players on both teams have been finding the back of the net with ease despite this series being billed as a goalie matchup, so scoring props are definitely worth a look — especially when it comes to who will score the game-winning goal.
Here’s a look at players from each team with the best chances — and odds at DraftKings — of scoring the GWG in Game 5 on Thursday.
Chris Kreider and Vincent Trocheck, New York Rangers
The Rangers teammates are both 45-1 long shots at DK to score a game-winner in overtime, while Kreider is listed at 12-1 to score the last goal of Game 5 and Trocheck is listed at 13-1. Both players have registered one game-winning goal during New York’s 2024 playoff run. However, Trocheck has scored three goals in his last five games while Kreider has been in a goal drought for four straight following a hat trick against Carolina in Round 2.
If you’re looking to wager on one of these players to score the game-winner, Trocheck is more likely to get you a return.
Matthew Tkachuk, Florida Panthers
The Panthers’ top source of swagger is listed at 12-1 to score the last goal of Thursday’s game and 40-1 to score the game-winner in OT. He has scored two GWGs in these playoffs, although he hasn’t found the back of the net since Game 1 of this series. Tkachuk did, however, get that one goal at Madison Square Garden and has tallied three assists in his last two games.
With the series moving back to the Big Apple, Tkachuk is a solid bet to score the game-winner at those odds.
Artemi Panarin, New York Rangers
Panarin is listed at 10-1 to score the last goal of Game 5 and 40-1 to score a game-winning goal in OT. He leads all skaters on our list with four GWGs, including an overtime game-winner against the Carolina Hurricanes in the last round. Granted, he’s going through a scoring drought and hasn’t found the back of the net since that game against Carolina.
He isn’t the most obvious pick to score a GWG in Game 5, but at 10-1 odds of scoring the final goal of the game at home are favorable.
Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe, Florida Panthers
Both forwards are on fire right now, as Verhaeghe has two goals in his last three games and Reinhart has scored three in his last two. Of course, Reinhart’s odds are shorter since he scored the GWG in Game 4 to even up the series, so he is the favorite at DK at 9-1 to score the last goal of Game 5 and 35-1 odds to score in overtime a second game in a row.
Verhaeghe is still a solid bet at 11-1 to be the last goal-scorer and at 35-1 to win it in OT. If you want to bet on the hot hand, however, Reinhart is your guy.
