NHL bets: Shesterkin should be busy tonight
Here’s to this fresh week being the turning point for a run of winning NHL props together, that’s always the goal. The below angle could be played however you see fit, if you agree with the narrative I outline. By all means, load up some Florida props. Here’s how I prefer to attack Game 4 between the Rangers and Panthers.
Igor Shesterkin over 29.5 saves (-110 DraftKings/ESPN BET)
My general read on this game is that we can expect plenty of Florida shots. We’ve got a Panthers team down 2-1 in the series, a team that dropped the last game at home. This team is far too good to lose both at home, in my eyes, and I expect an aggressive approach to avoid just that.
Florida finished Game 3 with 37 shots, and they are averaging 34.57 shots per game at home this postseason. Not only did they land 37 shots on goal on Sunday, we also saw a ton of players rack up some simply ridiculous shot attempt totals. Carter Verhaeghe had 19. Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov had 11. Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Evan Rodrigues, Anton Lundell, Brandon Montour and Gustav Forsling all had at least six attempts.
That sure paints a picture of what these Panthers are capable of. While I may very well still load up a shot parlay on a few of these names off my expectation of plenty of shots, it seems only right we simply target the guy who’s tasked with slowing down the barrage of volume coming his way.
Shesterkin finished Game 3 with 33 saves, and he has gone over this line in three of his last four games on the road.
There have been some OT games sprinkled in there, but guess what? I don’t really view that as a negative. This series has seen two straight overtime contests, and there easily could be another. The element of an extra period or two only further helps the cause here, but be sure to avoid FanDuel’s 60-minute lines.
