Stephen Curry had another vintage game of his against the Boston Celtics last night. The Golden State Warriors won 132-126 in a hard-fought game. Curry put up 20 points in the fourth quarter and ended the game with 33.
After the game, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal gave Curry his flowers. O’Neal not only placed Curry above himself on the all-time list, but he argued that he should be considered in the GOAT conversation.
Although they found different ways to dominate the game, the three-time Finals MVP’s opinion in this situation is incredibly valid. O’Neal is one of the greatest big men the game has ever seen with loads of accolades. A point guard like Curry finds himself around the same tier as him.
Making A Debate For Stephen Curry
While the take may be a little hot, Curry undoubtedly has the accolades. He is a two-time league MVP, a four-time champion, a nine-time All-Star, and a two-time scoring champion. He, along with O’Neal, are in the conversation for the two most unguardable players in league history.
There is much debate surrounding who the best basketball player of all time is. While most discussions boil down to Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Curry undoubtedly makes the conversation as a top 10 player of all-time.
While there is no concrete answer to the question, it’s a fun debate nonetheless. Another ring late in his career will undoubtedly help his case.
