It’s no secret that Zach LaVine was courted by the Chicago Bulls during the trade deadline this season.
According to reports, the team has adjusted their expectations about what they would receive in return.
LaVine was associated with multiple teams during the 2023–24 season. However, there wasn’t much interest in LaVine despite the fact that he was a two-time All-Star and had averaged over 20 points per game throughout his career.
Previously, the Bulls were looking for a first-round selection, an All-Star player, or a combination of the two. As per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, the team has now “dropped significantly” in asking price.
Johnson also stated that LaVine’s relationship with the Bulls “has run its course” and that both parties’ desire to complete a deal “has grown.”
LaVine’s season-ending surgery in February to repair his right foot issue severely limited the Bulls’ negotiation leverage before to the trade deadline.
LaVine only participated in 25 games in the regular season. Averaging 19.5 points and 3.9 assists, his three-point percentage was only 34.9%. LaVine’s grades are the lowest they have been since the 2017–18 season, when the UCLA product was mending an ACL tear.
It should come as no surprise to learn which Western Conference team LaVine has ties to, considering that Rich Paul represents the Bulls guard.
