Moses Moody fined for flopping

It’s been an excellent week for Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody. But it’s been a less excellent week for Moody’s bank account. Following the Warriors latest heartbreaking, lead-blowing loss — this time 113-112 to the LA Clippers on Saturday — the league announced that Moody was fined for a flop.

Thankfully it’s a relatively mild fine — at least in NBA terms — as Moody will be docked $2,000, which is 0.05% of his salary this season.

That was really the only downside of Moody’s week. He had an electric fourth quarter against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, scoring 11 points without missing a shot. After Steve Kerr admitted to having erred by removing Moody after that burst, the third-year guard started on Thursday and Saturday in place of Andrew Wiggins, who injured his finger with a car door.

Moody shined in the doubleheader against the Clippers, playing a total of 60 minutes across the two games, and scoring 34 points on 11-for-23 shooting, with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and just five fouls and no turnovers. The Warriors will once again have minutes issues to sort out when Wiggins, Chris Paul, and Gary Payton II return, but Moody is sure fighting hard to earn a larger role this season than he started with.
