A look at the five biggest takeaways from the Miami Heat’s win over the Toronto RaptorsThe Miami Heat took down the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, 112-103.
Here’s a look at five major takeaways:
- Caleb Martin delivered a star-level performance.
Martin was the key factor in the Heat’s 37-32 opening quarter lead as well as their victory. He finished the night with a season-high 24 points on 56.3 percent shooting along with 12 rebounds. After a slow start following an injury, Martin is finding his place in the lineup.
- Duncan Robinson’s explosive fourth quarter prevailed Miami to victory.
Outside of Martin, Robinson was the biggest piece in tonight’s win. He recorded 21 points along with seven assists and six rebounds on 47.4 percent shooting. 10 of his points came in the final quarter.
- Bam Adebayo is missed on both ends of the floor.
The All-Star big man is arguably the Heat’s No. 1 option. The Heat’s offense lacks dimension without him because of his ability to dominate the mid-range. Adebayo is their anchor on the defensive end, which leaves a void in his absence. However, center Orlando Robinson was a solid fill-in finishing the night with a double-double.
- Scottie Barnes needs to find a rhythm on offense.
The Raptors former No. 4 pick is regarded as an elite defender but lacks scoring ability. He wrapped up the game with 12 points on 29.4 percent shooting. If Toronto hopes to contend for a championship with Barnes as their superstar, then he will need to show consistency on that side of the court.
- Miami cannot contend with their injury problems.
Despite the talent on their roster, the Heat stand little chance against teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics in their current state. Tyler Herro and Adebayo staying healthy in a seven-game series is essential to the outcome.
