Maresca says Sheffield Wednesday is the ‘worst game’ for Leicester

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca

Title-chasing Leicester City head to Hillsborough tonight aiming to heap more misery on Danny Röhl’s Sheffield Wednesday outfit.

Given the Owls have won just once this season and are 10 points adrift of safety, Maresca’s team will be strong favourites to prevail on their first trip to S6 for a decade. But the Italian has warned his players not to take Wednesday lightly, pointing to narrow away wins at struggling Rotherham United and Queens Park Rangers as examples of the difficulties of playing sides scrapping for survival.

“It’s exactly the same as I said before QPR,” Maresca said. “For them, it’s the perfect day. Because by beating us, they can solve some problems.

“They have changed completely the dynamic with the new manager (Danny Rohl) and the way they behave. Before they waited, but now, since the new manager arrived, they are very aggressive, high pressing. So it will be a very tough game.

“With the new manager, they have played six games, and they have changed three or four times the shape. It’s very difficult to think how they are going to play against us. We need to adapt very soon to the goola

“For us, it’s the worst game in this moment. For them it could be the game of the rebuild. If they win this game, they can start something important. So it’s the perfect day against us. I already told them (the City players) that it’s the worst game in this moment for us and we need to be ready.”
