Micah Richards has backed reported Manchester City transfer target, Michael Olise, to become a top player in the future.
The Manchester club were linked with a move for the Crystal Palace winger during the previous summer transfer.
Despite seeing the Frenchman sign a new contract at Selhurst Park back in August, one pundit and former City player has shared his thoughts on the possibility of Olise making a move elsewhere.
Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Richards had this to say about Olise and what the future could hold for him.
He said: “He is going to be world-class. He is just one of them young players who needs to be guided in the right way.
“If he was ever to leave, or when he leaves Palace, if he picks the right team where he is allowed to express himself he is going to be a superstar. He is that good. He is going to the very top.”
Since joining the Eagles back in 2021 from Reading, the 22-year-old has made 81 appearances for Palace across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and delivering 22 assists along the way.
With 10 league games under his belt this season, the winger has scored six goals and delivered three assists.
In addition to that, Olise has the highest rate of goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (0.72) at the south London club.
His overall performances have earned the Frenchman a strong season rating of 7.7/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at Palace.
This showcases how much of an important figure he is for Roy Hodgson’s side and why Richards thinks he has the potential to become a top-class player if he were to join a better team in the future.
Taking all of that into account, if City feel that they can provide Olise with the opportunity to grow into the sort of player that Richards thinks he can become, we think they should make a move to sign him in the summer.
