Luka Doncic Sends Message After Dominant Christmas vs Suns

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic had some fun after a Christmas Day win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Dallas Mavericks again walked into the Footprint Center and emerged with a win over the Phoenix Suns, this time with a few lights around the tree in homes across the Valley.

Dallas’ 128-114 win over Phoenix ended a fairly entertaining Christmas Day slate for NBA fans.

The win was propelled by usual suspect Luka Doncic, who crossed the 10,000 career point milestone in the first quarter.

It sure felt like he doubled that.

Doncic ended with 50 points in the win, propelling the Mavericks to 18-12 on the year. It was his first 50-point outing of the year and just the sixth of his career.

According to NBA communications, he was the fourth player to score at least 50 points in a game on Christmas Day:

▪️ Bernard King (60 in 1984)

▪️ Wilt Chamberlain (59 in 1961)

▪️ Rick Barry (50 in 1966)

He had a short message on his way back to the locker room:

“You know what I’m gonna do!”

Doncic shot 15-25 from the field and was a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line. He also added six rebounds, 14 assists, four steals and three blocks.

“We could have been a lot better,” said Suns coach Frank Vogel on Doncic’s performance after the loss.

“Not good enough. We did take the ball out of his hands but wasn’t good enough on the backside.”

Phoenix drops to 14-15 on the season.
