Liverpool missed the chance to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they were beaten by Arsenal.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard were on target for the Gunners as Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered just their second defeat of the season. It was a dire performance from the Reds, who paid the price for two mistakes during the second-half.
The Reds were behind after 13 minutes when Saka put the Gunners in front. Liverpool were carved open, and the England international was on hand to finish after Kai Havertz’s initial effort was saved.
On the stroke of half-time, Luis Diaz’s persistence was rewarded as the ball was scrambled over the line. But midway through the second-half, Liverpool found themselves behind in North London.
Martinell couldn’t believe his luck as he tapped into an empty net, following a mix-up between Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk. Ibrahima Konate was shown a red card for a second bookable offence following a cynical block on Kai Havertz and moments later, Trossard rounded off the scoring.
