Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt has become a transfer target for both Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End ahead of January.
It’s a matter of days until the January window opens, and Leeds will be buoyed by their hammering of Ipswich Town on Saturday, putting them back in the mix to close the gap to second.
Daniel Farke won’t be looking for a great deal in the new year, but retention of key players is a huge task for him.
Journalist Alan Nixon has revealed on his Patreon that striker Joe Gelhardt is subject to interest from Leeds’ Championship rivals.
Having been sent out on loan to Sunderland for the second half of last season, the same is plotted by EFL clubs this coming January.
Nixon reports that both Blackburn Rovers and Preston are keen on signing the young forward, who is struggling for game time at the moment, with the former of those two making an offer to Leeds.
Hull City are also named in the pursuit, with it being claimed that Gelhardt and Leeds would be open to offers.
It’s been a frustrating campaign so far for Gelhardt, who will have been hoping in pre-season that he had a chance to nail his place in the side.
However, other attacking options have been preferred, as he was an unused sub at home to Ipswich, watching on as Mateo Joseph made a late cameo.
