Leeds United jibe has almost certainly backfired badly

Leeds United may be throwing away their chances of automatic promotion this season, but one team that have tried their hand at winding the Whites up won’t have the last laugh, Huddersfield Town.

2024 had been largely perfect for Leeds up until the March international break, with the club dropping just two points up to that point, conceding no league goals from open play too.

Prior to that dip in form, Leeds’ only game that wasn’t a win was away to Huddersfield Town, a 1-1 draw in Andre Breitenreiter’s first home game.

Leeds were not good enough to deserve anything other than a draw against the Terriers, who were plucky in their defensive performance against one of the promotion chasers.

The result ended Leeds’ winning streak that started on New Year’s Day, something our West Yorkshire neighbours revelled in.

Reporter on the match Leon Wobschall shared a post-match PA announcement that will not have gone down well in the John Smith’s Stadium away end that day, likely getting a cheer from the home end though:
