Leeds ready to pay £10m+ for first January transfer already

Leeds United have been told they must pay the “crazy” offer of £12.9million to sign Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu, according to Aksam.

The Turkish outlet has reported on its website that the Whites are ready to pay that fee to sign the winger and bring him to Elland Road next month.

It won’t be straightforward though, with Lazio also interested in Akturkoglu and have Champions League knockout football to offer him too.

Galatasaray officials are said to have made their demands known and will not consider any offers that fall below that to let go of one of their star performers.

Leeds have made contact for a deal already, with agents now involved ahead of a potential move to strengthen in the final third for that push for promotion

The 49ers Enterprises will already be in deep discussions with Daniel Farke and Nick Hammond as they look to finalise their shortlist for the January window.

Leeds were looking at more attackers over the summer without success, so it does make sense if Akturkoglu has jumped into their sights ahead of the window.

£12.9million would be a big fee to pay though, especially given there are other areas such as full-back and midfield that could also do with some more depth too.

The Whites do have a couple of loan spots available to use though, something that could work in their favour as they look to strengthen in other areas for little to no cost.

That could then open the door for one marquee signing, with the Galatasaray star one of the first names to appear as we enter the two weeks before showtime.

Automatic promotion is still the goal, but with a big gap to close down, January could be a huge month.
