What Crystal Palace have now told others about Mateta as he returns to training

Jean-Philippe Mateta is currently the man of the moment as he returns to Crystal Palace training.

The Crystal Palace No.14 scored once in the quarter-final of the Olympic Games, twice in the semi-final before netting another in the final against Spain as France won silver in Paris this summer.

It comes after the Frenchman also scored 19 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions last season, with many wondering if the 27-year-old can keep this incredible form up.

Now, Crystal Palace have sent a message out to others regarding Jean-Philippe Mateta after he returned to training on Wednesday…

Crystal Palace issue Jean-Philippe Mateta transfer stance

A story from the Express now reveals Crystal Palace have informed those keen to sign Mateta that the striker is going nowhere this summer.

Discussions over a new contract for the man from Sevran are yet to advance, but with roughly two years left to run on his deal, Crystal Palace are calm, and have no intention of cashing in this summer.

It comes after the Express revealed in an earlier story that Aston Villa had made an approach to sign Mateta – amid doubts over the future of Jhon Duran at Villa Park.

The Express state in their new story that the striker is happy at Selhurst Park, although the chance to play UEFA Champions League football with Aston Villa would be tempting if the Villans firm up their interest with a bid.
