Lakers trading for Zach LaVine close to a lock, claims Bulls insider

An insider for the Chicago Bulls believes it is just a matter of time before the Los Angeles Lakers can finalize a blockbuster trade for two-time All-Star Zach LaVine.

After reaching the Western Conference Finals earlier this year, the Lakers struggled to start the season. However, after head coach Darvin Ham made some key tweaks to the rotation — which included benching Austin Reaves — LA has played better and even stormed their way to the NBA In-Season Tournament title.

Yet, for as good as the Lakers are, they still seem one big piece away from being a favorite to reach the NBA Finals in the spring. That is why the organization has been linked to trades for disgruntled Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine.

Despite signing a massive new deal two summers ago, the relationship between LaVine and the Bulls has completely soured and both sides are reportedly ready for a divorce. However, the market for his services isn’t strong and it looks like the Lakers are the team that has pursued him the hardest. Yet, talks between the two teams have apparently hit an impasse due to Chicago’s asking price.

Los Angeles Lakers completing trade for Zach LaVine looks to be an eventuality

While a trade may not happen in the next week, The Athletic Bulls reporter Darnell Mayberry believes the organizations are too good of a fit in a trade for a deal not to get done before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
