Much like the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Lakers are another team with championship aspirations this season.
Also like the Bucks, the Lakers could be active buyers towards the February trade deadline as they look to bolster their squad for what they’re hoping will be a very deep postseason run.
According to rumors, the Lakers and the Bucks could now be going head-to-head for the services of a coveted guard.
Fran Levia of Fadeaway World recently conjured up a complex five-team blockbuster trade deal that will see the Lakers land a trio of players from the Chicago Bulls. One of those players is Alex Caruso, who has been rumored to be a trade target for the Bucks.
Below are the details of the proposed blockbuster:
Golden State Warriors receive: OG Anunoby, Otto Porter Jr
Los Angeles Lakers receive: DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso, Jevon Carter
Toronto Raptors receive: Zach LaVine, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jaden Hardy, 2024 second-round pick via Lakers, 2025 second-round pick via Warriors, 2025 second-round pick via Mavericks, 2026 first-round pick via Warriors
Chicago Bulls receive: Andrew Wiggins, Tim Hardaway Jr., D’Angelo Russell, Richaun Holmes, Maxi Kleber, 2025 second-round pick via Lakers, 2027 first-round
Obviously, this deal would be absolutely massive. The Lakers not only snag the services of Caruso, but they also land six-time All-Star swingman DeMar DeRozan in the deal. They will, however, need to give up Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, D’Angelo Russell, and a handful of future draft picks.
Another big name that has been dragged into this hypothetical trade is Zach LaVine, who incidentally, has also been linked to the Bucks. In this scenario, LaVine lands with the Toronto Raptors, which would not be an ideal scenario for Milwaukee in more ways than one.
If Caruso and Lavine (and perhaps even some of the other players listed on the trade proposal) actually become available before the deadline, then it would not be surprising if the Bucks decide to join in on the fun.
