Knicks Have Reportedly Shown Interest In Hawks Star

Once the NBA season hits the Christmas Day holiday, teams around the league start to know what they have with their current rosters and decide whether it’s time to make a trade or at least consider making a move ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

One team that has been rumored to be brewing something big is the New York Knicks, who have played well this season but are still clearly behind the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference.

Another team in the East that could be on the verge of making a considerable move before the trade deadline is the Atlanta Hawks, who haven’t lived up to expectations up to this point in the 2023-24 NBA season and may need to make a move to help right the ship.

Although superstar guard Trae Young has been mentioned in trade rumors over the past year or so, Dejounte Murray may get moved instead, with the Knicks reportedly interested, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Even though he’s not putting up All-Star-caliber numbers after 27 games played, the 27-year-old is having a decent season, averaging 20.0 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 45.2% from the floor and 37.4% from beyond the arc.

Depending on what the Knicks would have to give up to bring in Murray, the young guard might be the ideal backcourt partner for rising star Jalen Brunson, who is having an incredible season thus far in New York.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Knicks are genuinely interested in Murray and if that would be the team’s big swing in an attempt to be a contender in the East.
